Memories My Way is run by Escher Media Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 05298757). Our registered office is 213 London Road, Hadleigh, Benfleet, Essex SS7 2RD. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@memoriesmyway.com.
This policy explains what we collect when you order a film, why we need it, who we share it with and how long we keep it.
What we collect
- Photos of the people, pets and places you want in your film.
- Voice recordings you upload or record on the site, or a written description of a voice.
- What you want said, the scene you choose and your order details, such as the occasion, names and card wording.
- Your name, email address and phone number, and a postal address if you order printed gifts.
- Payment. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us.
- Ideas you send us through the suggestions box, with your email address.
- Your email address if you ask us to tell you when we open or about new scenes.
Why we use it
We use your photos, voice and order details to make your film and gifts and to deliver them to you. That is the main reason we hold anything, and the legal basis is carrying out the order you asked for.
We use your email address to send your order confirmation, updates and your finished film. We only send marketing emails if you have asked for them, and every one has a way to stop them.
Two things we only do if you tick a box to agree, and both boxes start unticked:
- Keeping your photos and voice for your next order, so you do not have to upload them again.
- Showing your film as an example on our website or social media.
You can change your mind about either at any time by emailing us.
Photos of other people and of children
When you upload a photo of someone, you confirm that they have agreed to be in the film, or that you are their parent or legal guardian, or close family if they have died.
If anyone in a photo is under 18, we ask you to confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and that you agree to their photo and voice being used to make the film. We do not make films of children for anyone else. You must be 18 or over to order.
How your film is made
Your film is made with AI video and image tools and checked by a filmmaker before it is sent to you.
The tools we use are run by other companies, and we send them your photos, voice and the scene description so they can make your film. The company that makes our videos, Runway, may use what is uploaded to it to improve its technology. We tell you this at the upload step as well. If you are not happy with that, please do not place an order.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with the companies we need to run the service:

Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as approved contract terms or the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
- Photos and voice recordings are deleted 30 days after your film is delivered, which leaves time for a remake if something is not right. If you ticked the box to keep them for your next order, we keep them until 18 months after your last order, and we email you a month before they are deleted.
- Your finished film stays watchable from your card and film link for as long as Memories My Way is running, and you can download it to keep. If we ever close, we will email you at least 90 days before, with a link to download it. Ask us and we will delete it sooner.
- Order records such as what you bought, when and what you paid are kept for six years, because the law requires businesses to keep their accounts.
- Suggestions and email sign-ups are kept until you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and withdraw your agreement to either of the optional uses above. Email hello@memoriesmyway.com and we will reply within a month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to run the shop and take payment. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will ask you first.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you by email.
